Pitching & Skill Clinics

Each winter the league holds Pitching and Skills Clinics for girls who have been members of the league
during the past season.  The Pitching Clinic is held on Wednesday nights at the Friedman Middle School
gym.  The clinic usually begins the last Wednesday in November and runs for 12 weeks.  A Catching Clinic
is run concurrently with the Pitching Clinic.  The Catching Clinic usually begins the second Wednesday in
January and runs until the Pitching Clinic ends.

The Skills Clinic is held on Tuesday nights at the Martin Middle School gym.  The clinic usually begins the
first Tuesday in January and runs for 10 weeks. No clinics are held when school is cancelled due to
vacations or inclement weather or when after-school activities are cancelled at the schools due to
inclement weather.  All sessions are one hour.  Participants are placed in the sessions based upon age,
experience, and skill. A nominal fee is charged for the Pitching and Skills Clinics.  The Catching Clinic is
free of charge.  All clinics are limited in the number of students they can accommodate, and enrollment is
strictly on a first come, first served basis.  Enrollment forms are mailed with the summer newsletter and
are also posted on this website.

Guidelines
1. Any parent wishing to help out at the clinics should contact TGSL at 508-823-1945. , Parents will be needed at the pitching
clinic to catch for their child who is pitching.
The more help we have, the smoother things work.

2. Please make sure that whatever your child brings to the clinic is marked with her full name so that it can be returned if it is left
behind. (Our lost and found grows with every clinic.)

3. Send your child to the bathroom before clinic so we can limit the number of children coming and going during the session. You
can also send water or juice, as it gets warm in the gym.

4. Dress your child in comfortable clothes, preferably in layers, not too loose and/or bulky. The child should be able to move
freely. A good fitting T-shirt and a sweatshirt work perfectly. Sneakers are a must! We are on the school’s gym floor.

5. DO NOT drop your child off at the school without first making sure that a clinic is being held. It is recommended that you
walk your child into the school as a safety precaution. You are required to come in to get your child, as no child will be allowed to
leave the building without a parent.

6. When the winter months arrive, bad weather will also be close behind. If the weather is bad and school is cancelled or released
early, we will probably not have clinic. Since there are over 100 girls on the clinic rosters, I cannot call everyone. Leave it to your
best judgment, or call. If the clinic is cancelled, We will leave a message on the TGSL phone line. We will also make an effort to
post information on the league’s website
www.tauntongirlssoftball.org.

7. If you have any questions about the clinic, please feel free to call or email me at any time.

8. Please note that there are no clinics during school vacations. Certain school events may also affect this schedule. Notification
of any changes will be posted at the registration table as soon as they are known.

9. The members of the Taunton Girls Softball League are the guests at the school! Your cooperation in following school
department rules will be expected. We will have access to the gym area only. NO ONE will be allowed in the main portion of the
school.
