2026 Taunton Typhoons Showcase Team 

 

Taunton Girls Softball league is fielding a competitive College Showcase Team to play at the highest level! Our team’s schedule will be determined by the skill set and the decision of the team's manager.

 

We are thrilled to announce that Todd Marino will be the Head Coach of our Typhoons Showcase Team!  Todd is the current Varsity coach at Concord Academy and was voted Coach of the Year in his first year within his conference. Todd brings to the table years of experience including player and coaching experience at the recreational, travel and high school level.

 

Also returning as one of the assistan coaches will be Peter Fernandes, current Assistant Coach of the Emerson College Softball team.

 

This team will be geared to players looking to play at the college level after high school. Players will be required to attend college recruiting classes, create skills videos, and contacting college coaches/recruiters throughout the year. Players may be required to attend additional skills clinics at different college campuses.  

 

Tryouts for the Typhoons Showcase Team will be held at the Taunton Girls Softball League Complex, located at 500 Norton Ave., Taunton, MA on July 21st, 2025 @ 6:00pm. All players MUST register to attend the tryouts: 

 

 

 

 WHAT DOES TAUNTON GIRLS SOFTBALL OFFER?

  • All players receive (3) sets of uniforms, a batting helmet, and A bat bag (helmets and bat bags are replaced every 2 years for returning players). 
  • Our league has 5 well maintained fields and year round access to our own indoor practice facility located in downtown Taunton. Our facility offers 6 pitching lanes, 5 tee stations, 3 hitting cages, & open practice space to work all year long on softball fundamentals.
  • Taunton Girls Softball League along with USA Softball of Massachusetts will once again host College Showcases at our softball complex. This will allow our players to interact with regional college coaches during these events.
  • Taunton Girls Softball has a strong partnership with USA Softball of Massachusetts to help develop, strengthen and build our town recreational softball programs in Massachusetts to keep softball available to all girls who want to play for the love the game!


Note: Tournament Travel/Showcase teams are competitive softball and not all players who tryout will make a team. There is no fee to tryout! Payments are due once a player has tried out AND has been selected to play on a 2026 Showcase Team. Player fee for all 2026 Showcase team players is $1,500.00.

PLAYER COMMITMENT Winter Indoor Training: Normally 1-2 practices per week*

Spring: Weekly practices*

Tournaments: 6+ per Spring, Summer, & Fall Months
Participation in USA Softball States, Regionals & Nationals*
FUNDRAISING OBLIGATIONS

 

  • Home Tournament(s) including Showcase Event - Parent(s)/guardian(s) of each player are expected to support all fundraising events for this program. Including, but not limited to, working tournaments hosted by TGSL which support our travel/showcase program. 
USA SOFTBALL TEAM CLASSIFICATION

Teams will meet 2025 USA Softball Requirements.

(Appropriate classification determined by team manager. )
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must not be on another USA Softball Championship Roster

 

 

* Varies by age, team and manager. Some teams may choose to do additional fundraising and play in more tournaments.
