Taunton Girls Softball League Fee Waiver Program


Softball can be an expensive sport to participate in, especially for families with multiple children playing. The Taunton Girls Softball League has a Fee Waiver program in place to help families in need meet the costs of playing Spring and Fall recreational softball. Assistance is available for all of our Spring and Fall Recreaional programs. The final decisions on awards are made by members of the TGSL Board of Directors based on recommendations from the TGSL Treasurer and availability of funds. So we encourage all families who feel they need some assistance with Spring and Fall recreation fees to apply.

TGSL families may apply for a fee waiver before the start of each season by submitting a TGSL Fee Waiver Application. Applications will still be accepted after the deadline, but even if you qualify, all available funds may have already been allocated to applications received on time. All information provided is kept strictly confidential.

 

Donate

 

Our Fee Waiver program would not be possible without the generosity of local individuals, families, and businesses. Anyone wishing to make a tax deductible donation to our league should proceed to our online donation form. All donations are put into the general recreation league fund from which financial aid grants will be made to qualified families. Even if you cannot donate at this time, take some time to see if your employer has a local community support/sponsorship program where they may be able to make a donation to our league.

Are awards seasonal (Fall/Spring) or annual?
Awards for Recreational players are annual (calendar year). You must apply for a fee waiver before each season (Spring and/or Fall) even if you received an award in a previous calendar year!
 
What if I register after the deadline?
Applications will still be accepted after the deadline, however there may not be funds available for late grants if all alloted funds have already been disbursed to on time qualified applications.
 
What if I have already paid the fees for a season?
If you receive an award and have already paid your fees for the season/year, they will be refunded to you by the league as soon as possible.

Are awards only for registration fees? What about equipment, training, etc.?
Currently our awards are for Spring and Fall Recreational registration fees only, however depending on the number of awards granted and available funds, the TGSL Board may choose to expand the scope of the program to cover more things. If you need assistance with equipment, the TGSL is working on an equipment swap program. Contact the TGSL Equipment Manager for more information.
 
Eligibility Restrictions
Please read the fee waiver eligibility resitrictions below:
  1. An applicant is not eligible for a fee waiver if they play travel/club softball for any organization, including but not limited to, the Taunton Tornadoes.  
  2. The Taunton Girls Softball League reserves the right to revoke a fee waiver from an applicant at any time, should they become part of any travel/club softball organization.  
  3. Applicants wil be required to reimburse the Taunton Girls Softball League registration fee for the season(s) in which a fee waiver is granted.
  4. Fee Waivers are not available for travel, clinics or any other special TGSL programs or offerings.
