2025 Taunton Girls Softball League Team Manager Packet

 

 

I. MANAGERS RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Read and understand the Taunton Girls Softball League By-Laws.  The By-Laws are online and there is also a pdf version available for download.
  • Review and understand your responsibilities as a Manager in the Taunton Girls Softball League.
  • Remember that this is a Recreational League and the players should HAVE FUN while learning and playing softball with us.

II. REQUIREMENTS FOR MANAGERS/COACHES

All new and existing TGSL managers, coaches and volunteers are required to complete the following:

IV. CONCESSION STAND
Concession Stand duty is a requirement for all teams, in all divisions.Instructional, Farm, Minor and Junior Divisions.  Duties listed below (times may vary).
For your team's concession duty:

  1. You need 4 to 5 parents for each duty.
  2. At least one or two need to be present at 5pm (Saturday @ 8:00am)
  3. Everyone should arrive by 5:30pm (Saturday@ 8:30am)
  4. Someone needs to be able to run the grill and fryolator
  5. The duties need to be completed (they are listed in the concession stand)
  6. Managers should be present.
  7. Someone needs to stay until the end of the shift.
  8. The Manager needs to verify the deposit information.
  9. When there is a rain out, your duty will be with the make up games
  10. Do not leave the concession stand manager alone.

 

V. PRACTICE REQUESTS

  • Please work directly with your division VP to come up with the best practice schedule for your team.
  • Please review the Master Schedule to ensure a field is available before submitting a practice request.
  • Please ensure you have received confirmation from the TGSL scheduling director before using the field or facility.
  • Make sure that your VP has arranged for someone to let you into the hitting facility.  The worst thing that can happen is for you and your entire team to be locked of the hitting facility.

VII.  KEYS

  • Individual keys will not be issued to Managers or Coaches
  • Key holders with a code will be located outside of the Roll Top, Bathrooms, Shed and Batting Facility.
  • The Key code will be updated at regular intervals and distributed to managers at league meetings when updated by the Facilities Manager.
  • If you are at the field and need a code you may contact any member of the E-Board for the code.
  • Please be sure that we have an accurate and readily used email address on file for you in the case that we need to notify with an updated key code.

 

Manager's Responsibilities

 

Thank you for volunteering to be a Manager in the Taunton Girls Softball League.  Being a manager is a yearly job which does not start and stop with the season.  The following is a list of the things that will be required of you as a manager in our league:

  • Attendance At League Meetings
    This is required.  You must attend or have a coach from your team present at all league meetings.  Meetings are scheduled every other week from February through the end of the season.  If you miss two meetings in a row you will not be allowed to vote at the next meeting.  All meeting times and locations can be found on the Schedule page of our website.

     
  • Team Sponsor
    The team sponsor fee is what the league relies on to help subsidize the cost of uniforms for our recreational teams.  It is your responsibility to obtain a sponsor for your team.  More information and a link to the online form can be found on the sponsor page.  If you are having trouble finding a sponsor please work with your division Vice President as we need a sponsor for each team before we can order team uniforms.

     
  • Committees
    These are the lifeblood of our volunteer organization and we ask that you volunteer to be on at least two committees.  Online forms will be created and made available for sign up on our website.

     
  • Paperwork / Online Forms
    All forms outlined in this packet and any other league paperwork needs to be completely in a timely manner and within specified time limits.

     
  • Draft
    It is the manager's responsibility to draft for your team and to call or email the newly drafted girls within 48 hours of the draft.

     
  • Communication
    Inform the players regarding all League events.  The players need to know what is going on with the team.  Games, rain outs, make ups, try out for girls moving up and travel teams, end of year event, etc...  Please be sure to make your parents aware of the league use of RainedOut.com to receive text messages of important league notices.  Also be sure that they are aware of our Field Status page on the league website where important notices and rain outs will be posted.  Encourage parents to Like Us on Facebook as we commonly use this as a forum for non-critical league communications.

     
  • Games
    It is your responsibiity to make sure that the proper people are notified regarding scores of games and pitching.

     
  • Fundraising
    It is your responsibility to make sure that your team participates in any fundraising, and you are responsible for any paperwork that is necessary.  Remember team photograph day is a league fundraising event so please be sure that you encourage parents to have their players participate and attend picture day.

     
  • Concession
    It is your responsibility to make sure that the concession stand is manned by your team on the assigned night.

     
  • Roster
    You are to keep a complete roster of your team on the league website.  You must notify the Vice President of any problems with your roster.  NOTE:  Any problem with players must be brought to the attention of the Vice President of your division.  You may not remove or place any girl on your team without first reviewing with the Vice President of your division.

     
  • Coaches
    You are responsible for picking coaches for your team.  You, and your coaches, must complete the online Coaches Registration Form and Conflict of Interest Waiver, as well as complete and pass a USA Softball background check and complete the SafeSport Certification course before you can coach.

     
  • Equipment

All equipment will be signed out at the roll top next to the concession stand. All equipment will be returned to the roll top on the same day after being used. No managers/coaches should remove equipment from the facility unless approved by the Equipment Director.

 

  • Dress Code
    It is your responsibility to make sure that the players are in proper uniform.  Please DO NOT wear sweatshirts and jackets from organizations which are outside of TGSL when coaching or managing recreational and travel games or practices.

     
  • Code of Conduct
    You are responsible to make sure that your players, coaches, parents and spectators follow the code of conduct.  You are responsible for the control of your players, coaches, parents and spectators when you are at the fields.

     
  • End of Year Event
    Your attendance is required.  You will need to introduce your team as well as coaches.  You will be asked to give counts as necessary.
