Your Daughter’s Coach Needs Your Help!

There are lots of ways to help your daughter’s team and coach, even if you don’t know the first thing about fast-pitch softball.
Coaches have a lot on their plates like organizing and executing practice plans, creating batting and defensive lineups, hauling team equipment; not to mention, actually coaching the girls. Don’t hesitate to offer some of your time and talents to help your daughter’s coaches with one of the following tasks:

  • Communications Coordinator – Create a calling tree and initiate any communications important to your team like calling the rain-out lines to check on field conditions and making sure everyone knows the status.
  • Uniform, Picture, Snacks, Party and Awards Coordinator(s) – Coordinating with the Division Vice President for each of these items for your daughter’s Team.
  • Team “Culture Keeper” – Help the coaches reinforce Parents/Players to Honor the Game, ELM Tree of Mastery (Effort, Learning, and bouncing back from Mistakes), and filling the players’ Emotional Tanks.
  • Field Prep – If you are able to be at the field about 30 minutes before game time, your coach needs help preparing the softball field when a game is scheduled. These fields need to be lined and sometimes have the bases placed.
  • Dugout Coordinator – Making sure the players are batting in the right order and remind them how to keep their equipment organized and easy to find. It is also helpful to “gear up” the next catcher when your team receives the 2nd out of the inning and encourage her to leave the shin guards on until she is on-deck if she is catching 2 innings in a row.
  • Scorekeeper – Keeping score takes a little practice but the official scorebook simply needs players in the batting order with outs and runs scored. It would also be helpful if you were to email the final score to the Division Vice President.

Let’s face it, the coaches have a lot to do. Thanks to all of you that can help in any way!

Please remember that all parents must have a CORI check before being allowed to help out on the fields.  Please give your completed CORI form with a copy of your state issued driver's license or other form of identification to our league secretary, Alice Newman, at the concession stand.
